The Emirates Salon Culinaire is one of the largest series of culinary competitions in the world for which entry is open only to professional chefs. It has both single entry and team events competitions. Each category of the competitions is judged to test the skill sets of the entrants on different levels. It is also an event to celebrate the gastronomic presentations and artistic side of culinary arts in its very true sense.
The event always brings a great deal of experience and exposure to the ICCA students as they not only get to participate in the competitions rubbing shoulders with the experts of the industry but they are also privileged to get their skill sets judged by a panel of esteemed culinary professionals certified from World Association of Chefs Societies(WACS).
For ICCA Dubai, this year’s Salon Culinaire turned out to be a remarkable one, as four out of the eight young chef participants from ICCA Dubai managed to bag bronze medals in their respective categories. The bronze medal winners were, Hester Maria Black for Chicken-Practical cookery by USAPEEC, ShaikhaAlmemari for Beef – Practical cookery by MLA, Bridget Maria Martis for Four plates of dessert by Nestle Docello and Annette Alice Harding for Wedding cake – Three Tier by Pristine. The others included SabeenFareed, TatjanaSulima, Fay Abreo and Joyce Ann Salterio who also won the merit awards.
More than the color of the medal, what mattered was the determination each one of them showed to compete with the well-experienced bests of the industry and managed to even beat them at their own game.
“This is a great achievement for them at such an early stage of their career. They are very talented and they make me proud of being their mentor. Their success is extremely motivating for the successive batches and I hope there will be more young talents taking part and succeeding in future events like this”, said Master Chef Daniel Hiltbrunner, Chef Instructor at ICCA Dubai and Certified WACS Judge.
“At ICCA, we train our students to help them build new skill sets and push boundaries to deliver culinary excellence and I am glad to see the outcome this way. We are truly proud of our young chefs for giving such stellar performance at Salon Culinaire”, said Sunjeh Raja, CEO and Director, ICCA Dubai.
Emirates Salon Culinaire is an excellent platform in the region that provides credible industry recognition to all kind of culinarians who are working towards making a mark in the industry. And, hope to see more young chefs making use of this platform to showcase their talent in the future.
