Who doesn’t like putting together a delectable meal? However, if you were to ask someone what is the least rewarding part of cooking, chances are that most would attribute it to the cleaning part that ensues. No matter how horrendous it might seem, maintaining cleanliness is one of the cardinal rules of the kitchen we can’t afford to refrain from.

The brighter side is that there are some smart kitchen hacks which will help you reduce the undesired mess. Using the right kitchenware can help you make that easy too! For instance, use a pair of kitchen shears to quickly trim fat away from chicken or roughly chop whole-canned tomatoes effectively while they are still in the can, minus any mess!

Most important is the mise-en-place ie. cleaning and preparing before cooking. Reduce clutter from the counters and wipe everything with a microfiber cloth and all purpose cleaner. Also prepare your ingredients beforehand. Chop, measure and portion out ingredients in advance. This method will help you avoid mess created from a frantic scramble to measure or prep.

Be careful in case you need to deal with sticky ingredients. While measuring ingredients like honey or molasses, coat the measuring cup with vegetable oil spray first. The thin layer of oil will prevent things from sticking and the process will go smoother than otherwise!

Also make sure create a temporary disposal spot near your cutting board for food scraps. The trick is to place a paper towel or plastic shopping bag while you are slicing which will make for easy disposal.

Keep the mess manageable and your sanity intact by following these simple but effective kitchen tips. Cook mess free and stress free!
