Turmeric Week: Healthy Turmeric Tea

This healthy turmeric tea is a popular tea beverage in Asia, often called the “liquid gold” for the amount of healthy benefits you can get from it.

Despite its use in cooking for several thousand years, turmeric continues to surprise researchers in terms of its wide-ranging health benefits. While once focused on anti-inflammatory benefits, decreased cancer risk, and support of detoxification, studies on turmeric intake now include its potential for improving cognitive function, blood sugar balance, and kidney function, as well as lessening the degree of severity associated with certain forms of arthritis and certain digestive disorders. *

 

Herbal Turmeric Tea   

Yield : 1 portion

Ingredients: Quantity
Star anise 2 no.
Lime zest (grated) ¼ tsp
Honey 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Water 300 ml
Cinnamon powder ¼ tsp
Mint sprig 1 no.

Method:

  1. Boil water with star anise, turmeric powder, cinnamon powder  and honey. Simmer well to infuse.
  2. Add the lime zest, and leave for a few minutes to infuse.
  3. Strain into a cup and garnish with mint.
